Team Building IS important

Team Building IS important

You go to work every day to do your job and do it well…you might be working in an office setting or working remotely…no matter your location – you probably have a team or network of people supporting you day-to-day to make your job and business a success. Often times we don’t take the time to connect with our team members away from work and the day-to-day work..

We need to…#teambuilding is important! If you do not dedicate a little extra time with your team/co-workers – how do you really know how they are doing? What makes them tick? And are they happy being a part of the team?

It is important to take the time out of our busy work schedules and get out with your team…I am not saying hop on a plane for an elaborate #teambuilding retreat. Being in the industry we have seen them, planned them, and participated in them. A half or full day retreat would do the trick…quarterly or twice a year. Whether it is a team lunch or an afternoon with some relaxation and a spa treatment. Maybe a gelato making class, a baseball game or a cooking challenge?

A cooking challenge is exactly what some of our team members participated in the other week and it was so much fun! We had a team of 4, we were given a time limit and all the necessary ingredients and tools to make 6 different menu items that were then tasted and reviewed by a panel of judges. We were given the opportunity to demonstrate creative thinking and positive problem solving, while delegating tasks and cooperating with each other in a kitchen setting. In the end – we did not win or even place, but what we did do was have a good time working together.

Whether you are planning a team building event for your own team or planning it for a group, these types of Culinary Team building exercises are so popular. Many hotels and conference centers are offering these experiences and classes to groups, so be sure to ask the venues you might be sourcing what types of team building packages they can offer. It will take your meeting and the attendee experience to the next level all while building camaraderie amongst your team.

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”

– Henry Ford
